Psalm 78; The Lord Gave them Bread from Heaven
God bless your good work and your music ministry. As a music minister you participate in worship more than lead it. I am often times set back a bit when someone calls themselves a worship leader for their church. If worship in a church takes a leader, who could claim to be truly in charge. I know there have been times when I was trying to "lead" worship and as I looked at the congregation it seemed like everyone was asleep. Other times I was the one who felt odd and yet the congregation was alive and actually lead me to better worship. So who's really leading worship? I say the Holy Spirit and that's it. None of us can lead worship. All we do is show up and participate in what he's made available. That's actually fortunate for me because I'm prone to stage fright. When I'm performing I can rarely control my shaking knees and yet at church I'm just one of the congregation. There's nothing to be nervous about or worried about. Back when I accompanied the congregation alone at the early morning Sunday mass, I had a horrible voice and couldn't sing. Mass still went on. People still sang. Life was still good. Understanding this really was a freeing experience. No more worries or nervousness.... just worship.
