Hello from Arizona! I'm sitting here in the lobby of a beautiful hotel in Scottsdale Arizona getting ready to go into an early bird session at the Lifeteen conference. If you've never been to e Lifeteen youth pastors conference I highly recommend it. There's a great benefit to getting around other music ministers and sharing experiences and ideas. The speakers are great and the weather is amazing.... Arizona? I just left Washington with 60 degrees and rain for this... Sometimes we must suffer though. I'm writing this on my iPad and as Napoleon Dynamite would point out "I don't have skills!", at least not where my iPad is concerned. This puts hunt and peck on a whole new level. If my links to the you tube and the sheet music don't work just do a quick search on YouTube for Perry Kelly and Psalm and do the same at www.scoreexchange for the sheet music and hopefully things will work out.
Too often our psalms are written by composers as meditative works. The psalms are incredibly profound works that have the ability to help us understand the depths of Gods understanding of human nature and his love for our salvation. They are also works of great joy and celebration. When I write the music for a psalm I try to see not just the meaning of the words but what is the context of the psalm. Is it a joyous dance or is it a thoughtful reflection. This psalm like many others, to me, is a celebration. So let's CELEBRATE!!!. Lord It Is Good to give Thanks To You!
