Psalm 51 - Create a Clean Heart In Me

Not long ago one of my young daughters religious education teachers told me that my daughter had been upset and was tearful in class.  When I asked what happened she said that the boy next to her said the Bible was boring.  I wasn't really sure what to say or think.  I smiled inside in relief that it wasn't something more serious.  What a wonderful thing to be so innocent that such a comment would cause one to be upset.  Is the Bible boring?  Definitely not if you are truly studying it however to the innocent young boy who knew little about it, it was very boring and to the innocent young girl who only knew that she loves Christ, the thought that it could be boring was totally unnerving.  How can anything so wonderful be boring?  Personally I thought "If she ever tries to read the beginning of Leviticus she may change her mind and yet to the absolute scholar, the list of the descendants of Jacob could very well be a thrilling study.  It is the clean heart that is affected by these things the most.  It was my daughters clean heart that was hurt by the stain of disrespect or apathy towards what is beautiful about the bible.  I can only pray that her heart can remain clean and that my own may be so once again.  Perhaps it's a good time of the year for us to go to confession and to ask the Lord with a pure desire to create a clean heart.  As Jesus taught us, it is a childlike faith that will be our saving faith.
