July 21, 2013, Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Responsorial Psalm Ps 15:2-3, 3-4, 5

He who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord.

One who walks blamelessly and does justice;
who thinks the truth in his heart
and slanders not with his tongue.

Who harms not his fellow man,
nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor;
by whom the reprobate is despised,
while he honors those who fear the LORD.

Who lends not his money at usury
and accepts no bribe against the innocent.
One who does these things
shall never be disturbed.

(Note: the lyrics in the sheet music have been changed to fit the new setting.
Essentially it's just a change from saying "one" to the word "he".  Also, if this song is in a key that's wrong for your group, you should be able to change the key on the web site.)

(We recorded this example when learning the song last year.  Words in this Sundays psalm have been updated for you.  Sorry the guitar is a bit loud. We fixed that for mass.  Also, I was showing the psalm to the group on this run through.  We then decided on who would cantor which verse.   We have a core group of musicians and then we have our young adults who trade off.  Notice our keyboard player in the back is covering bass in this rehearsal.  If I have a drummer, I tend to have my key/pads player cover a bass line if my bass player isn't available on a given Sunday which is what happened here.
God Bless, Perry)
