The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
It was great to have my daughter sing on this song. It's one we did last summer and having one more chance to sing it for mass is going to be nice.
I hope your advent is off to a great start. We put up our tree this week after having a new fireplace/mantle installed. Our living room is definitely off to a festive start to the season. I'm constantly reminded by my family and students that I'm a fortunate person. Sometimes it seems that the things that bother me wouldn't even be an annoyance to people who live more difficult lives. Somewhere along the line I realized that people will go through emotions regardless of circumstance. You can have the wealthiest most loved kid in the world throw a tantrum and cry like crazy while another child suffers real poverty. To both children, suffering is happening but only one is actually endangered by it. Jesus suffered for us and was constantly in danger because of who he was and what he was saying. We go through the very same emotions as he did but few of us put our lives on the line for others in the same way he did.
It's a good time to pray for those who deal with real problems. God bless all of our families who have loved ones in harms way and God bless those who sacrifice for our benefit. God bless our priests who through their lonely hours of constant effort, bring family and community to us. God bless our leaders and help them not give in to decisions that conflict their morals. As we await the coming of Christ may we all be filled with Joy, for Christ wants us to celebrate and feel the joy of this creation given to us so many years ago. Psalm 126 tells us to rejoice in our blessings. As we go forth weeping and worrying, we carry the seeds of blessing in us, given to us by Christ. Let us sew these seeds and one day return to God carrying our great harvest and laughing in joy and thanksgiving.
