Hello from L.A.! This week I had the pleasure of attending mass at Holy Family church in Glenndale, California. What an amazing group of musicians/ministers they have. What I loved most though, were the parishioners. This is a diverse parish with people from everywhere and yet there was an incredible unity among the people. I've seen some parishes where because of language or culture you could just as well say that two different church communities occupy the same building. It can even happen with parishes like my home parish. We don't have multiple languages. We just have different mass times. It's easy to get used to worshiping at the same time every week. You know the drill. You start to feel like your pew has your name on it. My suggestion? You don't have to get out of town. Just go to a different mass once in a while as a member of the congregation and let someone else worry about the music. You can focus your praise and maybe even meet someone new. Of course, you already knew that.
God bless, Perry
