August 26th Psalm 34 Taste and See the Goodness

August 26th Psalm 34 Taste and See the Goodness

It's been a bit confusing coming back and having so many things to catch up on.  Hopefully as the school year starts and my classroom is all running smoothly there won't be so many hick ups with posts here.  I've really enjoyed writing all the different psalms for psalm 34.  It's inspiring to hear all the different songs out there as well as find ways God speaks to us through this simple but important psalm.

Last Sunday I was very busy working on music as I usually do early in the morning, when my wife asked if I wanted to go to the river and take a walk with our kids and two small dogs.  The kids were in their swim suites and were ready to go.  I really wasn't in the mood but we made our way down to the river.  I had the words "Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord" in my head the whole time when suddenly it hit me that I was exactly where I needed to be in order to appreciate the beauty God's given us.  It was a great day and the congregation sang beautifully at mass later on.   What a wonderful way to realize and learn to appreciate God's gifts to us on the day of rest.  I hope your Sundays are peaceful and give you rest as well.  Music is something we do because it makes us feel closer to God's peace.  If it doesn't bring peace to you or bring you great satisfaction I encourage you to find opportunities for retreat.  Even if it's just a nice walk in the park.

God Bless,
Perry
