June 3rd Psalm 33 Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
We are truly blessed.  We are blessed to be born in our circumstance whether rich or poor.  We are blessed by our health whether good or bad.  We are blessed in our successes and failures.  If we count all as a blessing I believe it's a lot easier to be happy.  As a teacher I've met kids who came from very disturbing backgrounds and yet they were Innocent in heart and understood their blessings and were thankful.  I've met kids who came from stable and well maintained homes who felt no gratitude or respect for their surroundings.  I think one of the things that makes the difference is the acceptance of a loving God who gives us all that we have.  For people who don't believe in God, there is nothing greater than themselves.  Therefore if life isn't perfect they will wallow in unforgiving self deprecation or it's someone else's fault.  Their failure can also be considered the result of being mistreated or misunderstood.  The world owes me" is a mentality that seems prevalent among many of our people in society today.   Just ask those who see themselves a part of the "99%" and you'll see what I mean.  Christians have no such issue with life.  Blessed are the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.  How has he chosen?  Simple.  He chooses anyone who accepts him and does his will.  It's not an exclusive club and there are no membership requirements to join.  There is a cost though.  The cost is giving up ones own importance and putting others first.  We are truly blessed when we see ourselves as mere servants in the Lord's service.
